Are you seeking clarification on how HotDoc manages the information provided to us?

With the recent news about the ACCC taking legal action against another online booking provider, due to alleged misuse of patient information and altering of reviews.

We wanted to reassure all of our customers that HotDoc does not and will never sell patient information to third parties.

Due to the amount of press coverage, many patients are understandably concerned and seeking more information from practices on how their booking provider handles their information.

Everything we do is underpinned by our vision: To improve the healthcare experience for everyone in Australia.

Please read our Patient Privacy Statement which can be found online or in-app that has a more detailed breakdown on how we do and do not use patient information.

Transitioning from Pap Smears to Cervical Screening

By Uncategorized

The renewed National Cervical Screening Program

From 1 December 2017, cervical screening will change in Australia. The Pap Smear/ Pap Test will be replaced with a new Cervical Screening Test every five years.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. The new Cervical Screening Test is anticipated to protect up to 30% more women.

The test is a quick and simple procedure to check the health of your cervix. It looks and feels the same as the Pap test, but tests for the human papillomavirus (known as HPV).

Your first Cervical Screening Test is due two years after your last Pap test. After that, you will only need to have the test every five years if your results are normal.

Regular cervical screening is your best protection against cervical cancer.

Eligible Age Group: The new age group to be tested will be 25 to 74 year olds. In the past the program covered 18 to 69 year olds.

If you are due for testing, contact your healthcare provider to book an appointment. For more information about the National Cervical Screening Program call 13 15 56.

Saying Goodbye to Dr Richard Wong

By Uncategorized

To friends of Edmonton family medical centre,
I will be finishing up working in rural and regional Australia, with the bulk of it here in Cairns, at the end of this year and
will rebasing myself back in the capital cities from March 2017. You will be looked after by the other number of doctors
here, with at least one new one starting up next year, and the staff and nurses will assist you with that.

It has been a valuable experience working in areas of need the last four years or so where there’s been fewer doctors and
obtaining more hands-on experience. I would firstly and foremost like to thank the GP principal Dr Anthony Kresevic who
has been very generous and accommodating. I have enjoyed working with Dr Shaku Shanmugam all my time here as well
as the other doctors, the vital team of nurses led by senior nurse Sylvia as well as the very helpful front desk staff with the
very capable and experienced practice manager Debbie.

I’m here til Christmas and then will be working and helping out in outback Australia over summer as well as a volunteer
trip to PNG before starting my new job/s where I still hope to periodically venture out on short-term trips.

I am grateful for many of you entrusting your care to me – some of you have been through very testing times in your health
and lives, and I hope that I have been of assistance to you with God’s help,

regards,

Dr Richard Wong
