One of Cairns’ most recognisable medical families is stepping into its next chapter, as Dr Matthew Kresevic, 29 joins his father Dr Anthony Kresevic at Edmonton Family Medical Centre.
For the Kresevic family—and the wider Cairns community—it marks the beginning of the next generation of care.
The move signals not only generational continuity, but a renewed commitment to community healthcare from a family that has cared for Cairns’ locals for decades.
Dr Anthony Kresevic is one of Cairns’ most respected general practitioners, renowned for three decades of service to families across the region.
Beyond the clinic, he has been team doctor for the Cairns Taipans, as well as local football and swimming clubs, supporting athletes from grassroots to elite level.
Now, his son Matthew brings fresh energy and a deep-rooted connection to the community. A sixth-generation Cairns local, Dr Matthew Kresevic represents both continuity and renewal—combining modern medical training with a lifelong understanding of the people and place he serves.

The medically minded legacy doesn’t stop there. Anthony and his wife Kerry’s youngest son, Lucas, also recently graduated as a doctor in December.
Lucas is currently completing placement at Cairns Hospital and hopes to specialise in radiology, further extending the family’s contribution to healthcare in Far North Queensland.
Dr Matthew is married to Amelia, a local physiotherapist, and together they are raising their four-month-old son, Teddy—adding yet another generation to a family synonymous with care.
With Dr Matthew’s arrival, Edmonton Family Medical Centre enters a new era—where experience meets the future and a proud family legacy continues to grow.
As the baton is lovingly passed on, the Kresevic family remains firmly focused on what has always mattered most: looking after the health and wellbeing of Cairns families, now and for generations to come.
