Dr Kresevic’s journey in healthcare began with his graduation in medicine and surgery from the University of Adelaide in 1987. His early years were marked by gaining invaluable experience across various hospitals in Adelaide, honing his medical expertise.

While his passion for Orthopaedic Surgery took him to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, UK, in 1994, Dr Kresevic later refocused his dedication on the holistic realm of general medical practice. In 1998, he achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), a testament to his unwavering commitment to patient-centered care.

A Sports Medicine Enthusiast

Dr Kresevic’s dedication to healthcare extends into the realm of sports medicine. He is deeply immersed in the sporting pursuits of the Cairns community, from nurturing junior talents to supporting elite competitors. His contributions extend to serving as Team Doctor for various sporting entities, including the Northern Pride Queensland Rugby League (QRL) team and the Cairns Taipans basketball teams.

Dr Kresevic is not an employee of Edmonton Family Medical Centre. He has a Service Agreement with EFMC to provide medical services out of the practice. He has the right to set his own hours, set his own fees and the practice will collect those fees on his behalf.

Dr Mohammed Higazi brings together strong medical expertise, broad life experience and a genuine human approach in his role as a General Practitioner in Cairns.

Known for being calm, passionate, a good listener, culturally aware, and easy to communicate with, he values clear dialogue and respectful, patient-centred care.

Born in Sudan and shaped by a nature-rich, close-knit community, Dr Higazi learned early the importance of listening, empathy, and caring for people as a whole.

His journey later took him to Saudi Arabia, where working within high-end, well-resourced healthcare systems and culturally diverse populations refined his clinical precision, professionalism and cultural sensitivity.

A graduate of the prestigious University of Khartoum (2003), Dr Higazi has worked across civil and military hospitals, as well as in both urban and rural settings, managing a wide range of medical conditions—from routine health concerns to complex and high-pressure cases.

These experiences have shaped a thoughtful clinician with strong judgement and a steady, reassuring approach, focused on understanding the person, not just the condition.

Although fully trained in General Medicine and Cardiology, Dr Higazi has a strong commitment to Family Medicine, valuing its focus on continuity of care and long-term doctor–patient relationships.

His clinical interests include cardiology-related conditions, chronic disease management, respiratory conditions, elderly health, mental health, sports and musculoskeletal medicine, and women’s and children’s health.

He has experience in ultrasound and echocardiography, covering a wide range of examinations, along with multiple medical procedures—supporting accurate diagnosis, timely management and reducing the need for unnecessary referrals.

Now beginning a new chapter in Cairns, Dr Higazi proudly considers this community his home. He sees his patients as neighbours and families whose well-being truly matters, with a strong focus on prevention, community health, and long-term quality of life.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys reading and history, swimming, walking, camping, and watching movies, reflecting a balanced approach to life and health.

Dr Mojdeh Khorrami graduated from the Medical Branch of Tehran Azad University in 2017 and has been caring for patients as a GP ever since.

Over the past year, she has been practicing in Australia, gaining valuable experience working with diverse communities and understanding their unique healthcare needs.

Dr Khorrami has a special interest in preventive health, women’s health and family medicine.

She is passionate about empowering patients to take charge of their well-being, supporting women through all stages of life and building long-term, trusted relationships with families of all ages.

Dr Maryam Rostami

Dr Maryam Rostami is a patient-focused and highly experienced General Practitioner with more than eighteen years of clinical practice across family medicine, women’s health, chronic disease management and acute care. She is recognised for her warm communication style, thorough assessments and genuine commitment to supporting patients through every stage of life.

Strong Clinical Foundations

Dr Rostami commenced her medical career in 2007 and has since developed broad skills across the full spectrum of general practice. Early in her career she undertook structured training in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) medicine. While ENT is not her current specialty, this background enhances her ability to assess and manage common presentations such as sinus symptoms, ear pain, hearing changes and dizziness—strengthening the holistic care she provides as a GP. Her primary focus remains comprehensive, patient-centred general practice.
